Ruthin is a historic market town based in Denbighshire, North Wales. There is so much to see in Ruthin. There are over 800 years of history and Ruthin is set in one of the most beautiful landscapes in North Wales. It’s a fantastic place to shop or browse too. With stunning architecture, enchanting shops and good food, Ruthin has much to offer visitors. There are plenty of cafes too for when you need to rest. We live here and so may be biased but we still truly believe that Ruthin is the most charming small town in North Wales, we hope you agree.
So what does “Ruthin” or “Rhuthun” mean?
The translations differ but our favourite is “Red Fort” as it ties in nicely with a large amount of red sandstone in the area and also the red appearance of the remains of Ruthin Castle.
